I feel as though viral marketing is the most effective marketing. If an advertisement of some kind becomes very popular then that means, by definition, a lot of people have seen it and experienced it and will probably go buy the product or service. I find it interesting that viral marketing began in the nineties because of the absence of the internet. I know that television was a thing but still, there was no way to “share” a commercial like you can now. I guess people just called up each other and were like “Hey, have you seen this doritos commercial?” And if they had not then I guess they then explained it to the other person.
I found the break down of the sub layers of messenger to be rather intriguing. The most notable part for me was at the end when it was mentioned that the maven may not be very convincing or have the ability to reach a lot of viewers effectively. This is where the salespeople, for example any social media celebrity, come into play. They launch the advertisement into the social hubs that they operate and then it “goes viral.” Overall, 10/10 would recommend wiki page.
